Pastor Pankaj Sarkar - Senior Pastor
Pankaj is from India. His mother was the first christian in his family and helped lead him, his father, and his 3 younger siblings to the Lord. After his mother died, most of his family fell away from the Lord, but Pankaj’s faith remained strong and he wanted to pursue the Lord through studying the word at bible college. This led him to Nepal, where he attended Kathmandu Bible College and graduated with a bachelors in theology. It was while he was attending bible college that he fell in love with the country and people of Nepal.
After he graduated in 1999, he went back to India but was not given any opportunity to serve in his home town so he prayed and God opened a ministry opportunity for him back in Nepal. For the next 15 years, he served as a youth director, worship leader, and deacon at a small Nepali church in Kathmandu. He also started the now thriving worship ministry, band, and music school, Salvation Worship Ministries, with the help of two other friends.
In 2011, Pankaj travelled to America to marry his wife, Tonielle. After their marriage, they stayed in America for 2-years where Pankaj attended Calvary Chapel School of Worship in Costa Mesa, CA USA and also learned and studied under many Calvary Chapel pastors and leaders. It was then that Pankaj’s love for the Calvary Chapel distinctives and verse-by-verse teaching methodology began and he desired to bring it back to Nepal.
Pankaj and Tonielle returned to Nepal in September 2013 and jumped right back into ministry with the Salvation Worship team, music school, and weekly Bible study. Pankaj began implementing verse-by-verse teaching into his Bible studies and he could see the members of the team growing in their walks with the Lord. In 2014, the weekly bible study turned into Calvary Chapel Kathmandu.
Pankaj has been faithfully serving as the senior pastor of Calvary Chapel Kathmandu for the past 6 years and he is excited to see what will happen in the future.
